Get Ready!

There’s a full moon eclipse early Thursday morning. Except not everyone thinks it’s an eclipse. Some notable astrologers and NASA don’t. It’s listed in a popular astrology software program as an eclipse. It’s in my calendar as an eclipse. But it’s not in my ephemeris, a daily guide of planetary positions, as an eclipse.

That’s funny to me and gives vital clues about this week.

This eclipse at 25-26º Aquarius is the first of its kind in nearly a decade. Except it’s not fully an eclipse. It’s a rehearsal. It’s a shot across the bow to let us know more’s going on beneath the surface. For those of you who have planets or points near those degrees in Leo or Aquarius, like your ascendant or midheaven, you will likely experience this directly. Whether it’s “good” or “bad” in your chart depends on several things:

  1. How these planets or points connect with each other in your birth chart.
  2. How you define “good” or “bad.” For example, it might ultimately be good to let a relationship go that’s just not working. It just feels bad now.

Of course, if you don’t know where particular planets or points fall in your astrological chart, you can consider a consultation with me. Or you can look things up here or at astro.com.

One thing’s for certain: we’re in eclipse season. The next eclipse will be a Solar eclipse at 9º Virgo on September 1. Eclipses don’t make changes on a dime. Sometimes they have “influence” weeks before they occur. Most often, they kick in 1-3 months after they happen.

Mercury is also in his “shadow” now. This is another touchy point among some astrologers. Some astrologers think there’s nothing to this business about Mercury’s shadow. Last week’s wonkiness with Delta Airlines is a good example of something happening near Mercury’s shadow period. It also happened as clear-minded Mercury faced off by opposition with fuzzy Neptune. So there’s that too. Regardless, Mercury is shifting down gears. We should be prepared to do some of the same.

Heed the signs. Significant change is afoot. It requires us to study and slow down to assess what’s going on.

Read on for the SkyCodes for your particular moon, ascendant, Sun or key planet of your chart.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

The last week of your birthday season might find you more hesitant and reflective than open and out. Don’t beat yourself up about it. And allowing others to goad or dare you into doing something won’t make anything stick. It’s definitely time to feel your shine. But not all shine has to be for public consumption. After all, the Sun still shines whether it’s day or night anywhere in the world. Honor, instead, the quiet, personal goals you’ve set for yourself. Even if something is small, do it. It’s important to leave your mark. It’s also glorious to celebrate that by yourself.

Affirmation:
I feel my glorious shine, whether it’s seen by others or not, and it lights the path I need to take.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Perhaps the most disturbing thought about organization and order is that they don’t really get rid of chaos. It only appears to tame it. Where does your chaos live? Where’s the wilder side of you? You’re going to need it, and there’s no sense shaming or blaming it. Own it. Let this Aquarius full moon illuminate where chaos is in your life, so you can observe it. It has something to teach you. For example, there might be a reason why lint always forms in one corner of a room that you clean incredibly well. Look how one thing affects another rather than only in one area.

Affirmation:
Chaos reveals to me what’s interconnected but not yet relatable in my life.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

When was the last time you stopped to smell the roses? Of course, we’re not really talking about real roses or actual smelling. But you should savor what’s good and great about life. That includes having a good time with others. It doesn’t matter if it’s a late night house party, an epic game of spades, or a lazy Sunday brunch. You might still have some uneasiness with folks close to you. But remember that the better part of having a good time is wanting to have a good time. Stay open to that and you can’t be disappointed.

Affirmation:
I am open to good times and that makes any time blessed.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

Don’t let anyone talk you out of your suspicious nature. It’s fine and fair to be suspicious, as long as your opinion can change. To assume that everyone is your friend sets you up to stumble on the mine of an enemy or a frenemy. Or to believe you should snatch every opportunity that crosses your path can lead to losing your way. How to judge what’s right? Honor when “no” is your most persistent thought and “yes” seems more like an afterthought.

Affirmation:
I can magically change all my no’s into yeses when I feel nearly overwhelmed to do so.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

You’ll need a little less single-mindedness and more movement and flexibility. Perhaps you might be nervous that you’ll just lose focus and veer off target. That’s truly a possibility. But perspective and a change of pace can be just what you need to feel fresh enough to stay on point. Work or tagging along with loved ones will likely keep you busy and in motion. But you can also create a fun distraction on your own. Make a day trip. Or take a tour of some place local, but don’t know well.

Affirmation:
I strive to see the familiar with fresh eyes by stepping away from it some.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

You might feel in a rush to convert recently learned skills or insights into practical use. It likely won’t work. That’s not even what should be happening just yet. You’re taking stock more of what you got and what you need. This full moon can help you figure this out more. You have to be willing to experiment (and fail) than feel like everything is on the line now. It’s a new cycle of re-evaluating what you can do. Be patient.

Affirmation:
I have to be patient with others and myself as I put new skills and insights into practice.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Somehow, the limelight is going to find you. You likely will lose something because of it. It might be some of your privacy. Perhaps it costs you some of your independence. You perhaps have to dole out more money than you’d like. But you often can’t get something for nothing. If you’re not comfortable with what’s required of you, you can reset what you want to happen. But it will take longer and cost you differently. It might not be worth the time to reboot everything if you can stand a little discomfort now.

Affirmation:
What I truly want and desire is worth the cost.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

The more you push for seclusion, the more likely you’ll find yourself thrust in front of people. Perhaps you don’t feel like you have all your ducks lined up enough to be “out there.” You’re not entirely wrong. But so what? The Cosmos can’t always run on your schedule. Going off to be by yourself won’t make you any more prepared. It just makes you feel safe. You won’t be unsafe, though. There will be other opportunities to present your very best. This is a dry rehearsal. And it’s good for you to see how ready you are and how you have less to fear.

Affirmation:
I am able to stay present when I’m thrust into limelight. I am without fear that I am not or do not have “enough.”

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You’re not in a slump. You must be motivated differently. Your friends and natural competitive spirit can help immensely. A dare or bet with a friend can get you to do something that you’ve been putting off a long time. Similarly, try something out with a friend. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Competition only hurts you if it shuts off your imagination. If all you can think about is how you will beat someone, then you’ve already lost. Even when you win, you haven’t done the best YOU could do. You’ve only done better than someone else.

Affirmation:
Others might inspire me to be better. But what’s best for me burns brightest in my heart.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

No one has to tell you to “stay the course” frequently. You’re born to persevere. But sometimes you have to be told when to slow your roll. You might rush for something to happen this week when it’s just not time. That might be confusing because perhaps you think everything is all lined up and ready to go. Look closer. It’s probably not. Perhaps you’re working with an old formula for how an ideal looks. Or worse, you’re using someone else’s notion for what should be happening now.

Affirmation:
I am patient for the prospects rightly meant for me.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

My alma mater’s motto is “Knowledge crowns those who seek her.” It sounds like a regally self-serving motto when the knowledge tuition costs about $43,000/year. Hell, at that price, a graduate should get a crown, a BMW, and a cushy corner office job. But the real wisdom of the motto is in the seeking. Seeking can mean there’s no guarantee that you’ll find her. Or recognize her. You have to seek her anyway. You’re known for your curiosity. But you’ll have to unleash more of your passion and perseverance to dive hard for what you must know. Trust the hunger.

Affirmation:
I actively satisfy my hunger for knowledge, not merely my curiosity.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

A minor setback is sometimes what you need to take a major step forward. You might have trouble believing this now. So act like you do. It’s better than your other options. You can let a little thing become a bigger one by harping on it. Or you could change a loss into a win by increasing what you can do, not what you can’t. There really is no use crying over spilled milk when you have a strong, healthy cow in front of you. Go back to the drawing board, whatever that is. And get back on track.

Affirmation:
I focus on what I can change and worry less about the things I can’t.
