SkyCode Horoscopes for the week of September 19-25, 2016

Codes to unlock the stars, not to be locked down by them.

On Thursday, the day that Mercury moves direct, out of his retrograde, the Sun moves into Libra. We officially reach fall.

It’s always amusing how people react when Mercury moves direct. It’s as if 21 days of cloudy skies are over and the Sun finally comes out. But it’s almost never like that. Mercury’s exactly timed forward motion almost never links to fixing everything that’s gone wrong during the retrograde. It shouldn’t even. If it did, then we might miss the whole point of Mercury’s apparent backward slide.

We’re called to regain our poise and composure when Mercury retrogrades. We might not even realize we’ve lost those except that we experience more missed connections. We have a chance to recommit to what we’ve learned during the retrograde when Mercury moves forward. But sometimes that goes out the window with all the relief after the retrograde. That’s the error.

We might think that we can be grateful that the Sun moves into balanced Libra for help. That’s only part right. I don’t think Libra is really about balance at all. Balance isn’t only about things being even-steven. It’s the poise and grace of having the right proportion for things. Those things don’t have to be perfectly balanced or equal. They only have to fit in the right place at the right time. I once read that this is the truest definition of magic: to perform the right action at the right time. Or as Spike Lee might put it, we have to “do the right thing.”

Mercury’s retrograde likely highlighted how we’re doing the wrong thing, if we’ve been paying attention. Now that he’s righted his course, we have to do the same. That’s not something that “the stars” can compel you to do. It’s something you can embrace after you’ve considered your best option. Think about what that could be during these last few days of Mercury’s retrograde. Hold off the breathless party of relief. Ride into the magic of grace and poise.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

An over abundance of energy from last Friday’s lunar eclipse might leave you feeling energized and anxious at the same time. If you can’t find some engrossing project to keep you busy, you might look more like a cat chasing her own tail. This isn’t how you want your sign’s solar season to end. Work, but not too much. Calm your nerves by NOT trying to fill what Rudyard Kipling called the “unforgiving minute” with busyness. Time for leisure will provide you with the rest and perspective you’ve earned and needed.

Affirmation:
I have energy to spare wisely, but none to waste.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Your birthday season starts this week. But you’ll slowly get in a celebratory spirit. Perhaps you’re thinking more about what could go or is wrong in your life than what’s right. That’s no way to step into the best part of Libra. Gratitude is one of the best ways to plentitude. You’ve also been no slouch in the self-improvement department. You’ve done a lot of work that might be off anyone’s radar. So, don’t be so hard on your faults. You’ve upgraded. It’s time to recognize and love the newer parts of yourself. How else can you teach others to do it, if you don’t start with yourself?

Affirmation:
I first celebrate my progress and blessings to teach others how to celebrate themselves and me.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You’re better able to connect with friends and associates than recent weeks. Use this opportunity to think about how to move forward, not to analyze how you had disconnects. It doesn’t matter whether you bring up the past or if they do. At least one person is likely to blindside you about a different version of the past than you recall. Don’t harp on who’s right. You have to open your heart more than your memory cells. This ain’t about the receipts. It’s how you’re going to reap better what you’ve sown to harvest even more.

Affirmation:
Opening my heart opens my hand to do more with others.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

A recent setback with work or a project might have been just what you needed to have perception check, not a reality check. Reality checks imply that there is only one reality to any given situation. You know that’s not true more than most. You can instead see a situation that others won’t perceive the same way. You can create a “reality” that even goes beyond what others envision. You’re often great at that. Sketch out new possibilities first. Then remember to fill in the details.

Affirmation:
I create realities from my perceptions, not let “reality checks” define me.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

You’re better able to get a grip on something that’s baffled you recently. Perhaps a thorny detail you’ve been trying to grasp just clicks. Or if you’ve been attempting to share a bit of your own wisdom with another, it clicks for him or her. Regardless, portals of knowledge and understanding are open to you. Don’t get greedy for more, though. Now isn’t the time to hole yourself up with more study or tinkering. Roll up your sleeves and put those principles into practice or share them. You’re more ready than you’re willing to believe.

Affirmation:
I apply the understanding I have and trust more is on the way.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

It’s not your imagination. Your world has seemed to shrink. And you’re not ready to have that. Travel, philosophy, and new people from off-the-beaten paths might all fascinate you. You might feel more suffocated if you don’t have the time or treasure to pursue any of those things. Don’t dwell on what you don’t have. Work with what you have. If you can only parcel out a sacred five minutes to scan a travel magazine at work, then relish those minutes. Do whatever you can to expand your horizons, even if it’s only by mind. Where the mind goes, the body can eventually follow.

Affirmation:
I keep my mind open to a bigger world, within and without.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

If you took liberties with someone’s feelings, belongings, or name, then you’re probably feeling some burn now. Perhaps you thought it was better to ask for forgiveness later than to ask for permission first. You should review why you did that than wallow in your own self-inflicted wounds. Maybe you let a fear of rejection loom larger than your own morals. Or you might have wanted to keep control over a situation rather than ask for help. You can make amends, though. Yes, forgiveness starts with you. That is something that you can control.

Affirmation:
My righteousness is rooted in love, not fear and control.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You might want to stay on track with your own thing. But other people, like significant others, partners or clients, will likely clamor for more of your attention. You can’t shut ‘em all out to be productive. That won’t work. You’ll end up creating more damage control and work for yourself. Be considerate and productive. Just don’t make the mistake of managing people like you would a project. Wars, for example, have soldiers and civilians. Bad things happen when people in charge confuse the two. Remember that as you wage a successful campaign to get stuff done.

Affirmation:
I am considerate with people and productive with projects.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

As you finally start to feel more in your groove, you may have to deal with an unexpected string of annoyances. Except these irksome happenings aren’t really surprises. They’re all the things you probably swept under the rug sometime back in the spring and now they’ve gotten a little bigger. When problems get bigger, you have to grow with them. Or suffer under their weight. You might be tempted to doubt whether you can handle what’s thrown at you. But you can. Don’t necessarily tackle the biggest problem. Start with the smallest factor that’s causing the most trouble.

Affirmation:
I can grow bigger than my problems.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Sometimes people close to you will think you’re doing wrong by them when you’re doing right for yourself. Giving loving attention to yourself, your home or those you hold dear should be a high priority. But you might catch some flack from associates and friends who want more from you. Don’t take their criticisms too much to heart. The sign of the Twins is important in your chart. But that doesn’t mean you can be two places at once or all things to all people. You’re one person with one heart that beats for who and what’s vital in your life.

Affirmation:
I cultivate who and what’s nearest and dearest to me with love, not guilt.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

You’re better able to get back to center. Returning to center means making your house more comfortable and beautiful. You might invite lighter energy into your home by changing up the color of the walls or cleaning the yard. Or by having a friend over who makes you laugh out loud, for real. You can be more fact-oriented and precise with associates, neighbors, or colleagues. Your work discipline will help you catch up on any communication lags you’ve had recently.

Affirmation:
I invite lighter energy into my home to keep me grounded and clear-hearted.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

Don’t turn a tense situation into a needlessly dramatic one by first blaming someone else. Chances are there’s enough blame to go around, including a swig for you. Communication is important now. Look first to see if you kept something too close to your chest before you shift the blame. If that’s not what happened, then fix the problem, not analyze to death how it happened. You can break down later how to prevent a similar problem from happening again. But, first, stay in the present. Fix the issue staring you in the face.

Affirmation:
I stay focused on solutions, not problems, or their past.
