“Strategizing By The Stars”

Find your “treasure”

In my weekly Cosmic Practicum, we look at several charts, particularly the chart of the day. When we happened to look ahead to this week, we mused about a positive alignment between shifty Mercury and steady Saturn on the day after the lunar nodes change sign for the first time in 18 months. There also happens to be a full Scorpio moon that day. What does all that excited astro-geekiness mean, though?

I can start peeling back this squealing bundle of astro-geekdom with the Scorpio full moon on Wednesday. May 10 happens to be celebrated around the world as the Buddha’s birthday. It’s called Wesak.

Is it his actual birthday? Who knows. But what’s celebrated is the Buddha’s enlightenment and liberation from the wheel of dharma. If only we all will be so lucky! But there is a way we can experience this day. We can work on long-range plans and notions of our future. We can learn to ground our ever-shifting passions (the moon in Scorpio) in ways that are sustainable and require perseverance (Sun in Taurus).

The free-flowing trine between Mercury, Saturn, and the North node seal this good deal. The North Node isn’t an actual planet, but it’s an important point in the heavens. It’s an intersection point between the moon’s orbit and the Sun’s imaginary orbit around the Earth. The North Node symbolizes a surge of innovation and positive development. This bodes well for disciplining ourselves (Saturn) to foster ideas, writing, or communication (Mercury) to pull us ahead. Hump day also looks like a good time to mend broken fences or problems from Mercury’s recent retrograde.

So, we might not all achieve enlightenment this full moon. But I’m sure many will be glad to have these happy stars illumine the strategies and plans that can improve our lives.

Read on for the SkyCodes for your particular moon, ascendant, Sun or key planet of your chart.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

There’s a lot pulling at your heartstrings now. Perhaps too much. I even feel a little weird saying that to you since you usually aren’t overcome that way. But that probably makes this moment even more poignant. Use this stirring of your passions to shake things up. Don’t rush into a Zen place. Feel the void, the pain, or the longing. Seeing how you feel is the first step to managing better what’s happening now and altering events like it in the near or distant future. But don’t con yourself into thinking you can avoid experiencing these turbulent waves of emotion. That’s part of living.

Affirmation:
I let my heart play the music it feels to move with the rhythm of challenging experiences.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

A sea of strong emotions can indeed impel you toward your dreams. You have your sights on achieving more, and you feel sharp enough to cut through obstacles to make BIG things happen. That is until you think about those dreams or any obstacles concretely. You might then see how you’re underprepared with real strategies and tactics for how you’ll manifest what you want. Sit often with how your desires will feel in your hands. Imagine more scenarios, not just a few, for how you’ll overcome actual obstacles. Then match your sharp wits and discipline with your strong feelings and energy to succeed more.

Affirmation:
My feelings fuel my ability to build or break down in detail whatever I need to fulfill my dreams.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

It’s fine to pat yourself on the back for defusing a possible crisis before it does any serious damage. But be sure you’re also not missing out on an opportunity to create more security and success in your life. Take something as simple as nearly missing a bill payment. Not usually a big deal. A late fee would probably only be an annoyance. But setting up an automatic payment plan would be an easy and long-term fix. Yet, there’s likely something bigger with your career or finances that you could manage similarly now. Stretch!

Affirmation:
I anticipate and transform a crisis into a long-term solution for greater financial security.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

A light bulb might suddenly go off in your mind about a problem. You might wonder why you didn’t get it sooner. Don’t wonder too long, though. You’ll soon have to roll up your sleeves and put important plans in motion. The other problem with wondering is that you might plant more seeds of doubt about yourself and your abilities. You don’t need that. It also doesn’t make any sense on a deeper level. You don’t have to catch any spiders to clear away their cobwebs. In other words, pursuing a cause doesn’t matter as much as ridding yourself of their effects.

Affirmation:

I am grateful for the solutions that come to me right on time.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Perhaps you feel inexplicable relief from a pressure you didn’t even know you were feeling. There’s no point ferreting out the source. It could have been several things all at once. What is important is how you move forward now. The best move will likely be the one that steers you toward taking in more wisdom and knowledge. Notice I did not say analyzing and fretting about scenarios. Use the notion of any “free time” for just that: to feel the freedom to explore and contemplate. Remember the pleasure of learning for its own sake, not just because you must.

Affirmation:
I use my “free time” to tap into the pleasure of what I love to learn.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

One of the benefits of turning down the volume in your life is that you can now hear more of what you want. This will demand more honesty with yourself and others, though. For instance, if you’re tired of hearing your friend whine about her flagging relationship every other day, you have choices. You can encourage her to make different choices (again). Or you can re-direct your attention toward new topics or even new people. Someone, somewhere is playing your song. Move with “the music.”

Affirmation:
I actively choose who and what I want to hear that inspires me.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You probably have your mind on your money and your money on your mind. That’s not news to anyone. But are you caring for the eggs more than the goose that lays them? Of course, this clearly means that you might give your self-care more attention. But you must also shine a spotlight on those relationships and activities that can inspire you to stay limber and lively. Look closely at anything in your life that you have on automatic. Perhaps you need to ante up on how much you’re sweeping robotically into your savings account each month. Or have more small talk with customers or clients you see routinely. You might learn more about how you can better suit their needs.

Affirmation:
I take the rut out of routine to improve my quality of life.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

You’re known as THE straight shooter of the Zodiac. But you certainly are no easy target. That likely includes the frustration others might feel in trying to understand you. It might even be hard for you to understand your own motivations and methods. Yet, there is a method to your “madness.” You live for and love the idea of options. So, you often want to keep those as broad as possible. The problem sometimes is not knowing whether you should be concerned with long or short-term options. Then you can get cagey and shoot without purpose or clarity. But short and long can be friends. Keep the daring and passion for what stretches you and your reach. But don’t let the fear of getting stuck stop you from pursuing incremental, clearly defined tasks.

Affirmation:
I can stretch with long-term options and keep on point with short-term ones too.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

As much as astrologers talk about “utility” and “I use” with your sign, you struggle with futility and “I feel used” more than you’d like to admit. But do admit it. It’s important to see how certain relationships or activities are unfruitful. Yet, that doesn’t have to mean defeat. Dashed hopes make good fertilizer. Just be willing to risk change and innovation. It’s okay if all of that scares the bejeezus out of you. (You’re alive.) Or if you fear you’ll fail again. (That’s another chance at improved fertilizer for fresh start.) If you fear feeling used again. (That means you still have use.) Shine this week’s full moon in the dark places you fear pointlessness. You’ll eventually find those are the places where you instead become sharper.

Affirmation:
Facing pointlessness doesn’t have to be pointless.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Ease into conversation like you might slip into a sleek, sports car that can go from 0-100 mph in seconds. Be open to the thrill of what can happen. But respect that you can just as easily lose control of it all. The too-easy option is NOT to get in a conversation and keep everything in. There’s a lot cycling through your mind. And you’re right to feel that not everyone can handle you when you ramp up to speed. Heck, you might have trouble, too. This is when past experience can be a guide. But don’t let it become a rigid rulebook. Remember: ease into conversation and respect the power of two minds coming together.

Affirmation:
I ease into conversation with others, staying relaxed and respectful of two minds gaining momentum. Or not.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

You possibly feel like a bat far from its cave at sunrise. There’s an overload of things you feel and sense. At times, it might seem impossible to make sense of anything. Yet, you don’t need a cave. Just find a place where you experience quiet. You won’t have to unplug long, though. You mainly have to change up with what and how you do things. Maybe you’ll have to rework when you do your workouts. Or it’s time for a new set of workouts. But there’s a new way to experience your world. But you need some time to see how your world has already changed. Once you figure that out, you’ll be great to the go.

Affirmation:
I carve out space to figure out how my world has changed and adapt quickly.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You might have a stronger interest in experiencing more optimal performance in nearly all you do. (Yes, even more than usual!) On a practical level, it will help to keep a close eye on your budget and time, not just calories or your number of steps for the day. Yet, on a deeper level, don’t confuse quantity, on any level, with quality. Gyms are filled with people who spend hours there weekly without meeting any of their health goals. Folks log hundreds of hours for work and are no more productive. That’s because real productivity is rarely only about becoming a better doer. Your primary task is to enjoy a better you. That requires appreciating who you are beyond your optimal performance. Keep that foremost in your heart.

Affirmation:
My optimal performance defines what I do, but not who I am.
