“Re-membering”

weekly horoscopes, 2017 horoscopes, horoscopes, Pluto, retrograde, last quarter moon, Venus, retrograde, direct, depth

Probing Pluto trades places with Venus to begin his annual five-month retrograde on Thursday. According to Roman myth, Pluto is the lord of the underworld and the dead. That doesn’t sound too interesting until you realize that much of our wealth comes from beneath the ground. Then we can see something significant about what the astrological Pluto signifies.

Pluto likes to dig. So, the astrological Pluto symbolizes what lurks deep within us, whether from birth or what we’ve buried. We’re either making a treasure from the raw materials buried within us, or we’re exhuming buried treasures or trash. Most often when Pluto’s direct, we find it easier to create treasure from what’s buried within us. However, as Pluto retrogrades, we have to do the work of excavating the treasures or trash we’ve buried.

One of the first things to surface during Pluto retrogrades are desires you probably haven’t buried too well. For example, those poorly buried desires might manifest as recent (or sometimes not-so-recent) exes who prompt you to revisit those relationships. Fortunately, the Venus retrograde probably has reduced the sting of this happening.

But there’s still a powerful residual need for closure during this retrograde. Be forewarned, however, that the resolution will NOT probably be about getting back together. It’ll be more about you getting yourself back together—that is figuring out what you gave away and how to get it back. If you gave away too much control and power in a previous relationship, for instance, you’ll seek to reclaim that now. All fitting things to happen during Mercury retrograde AND Wednesday’s Last Quarter or “finishing” moon.

You could also feel prompted to excavate buried desires for what you want out of life. This is a very important reflective moment for honoring what you’ve let fall by the wayside. You could come across some of your old poetry, let’s say, and you realize that it wasn’t as bad or angst written as you remembered. Subsequently, you’re inspired to write poetry again. (After all, it is National Poetry Month.)

As you commit to this excavation process, you’re not only re-membering parts of yourself that have been separated; you are also putting out the trash. When you find treasured pieces of yourself, you can let go of the poorly made substitutes you put in their place. When Pluto digs during his retrograde, he wants nothing less than the truth—no substitutes and nothing artificial. He digs until you put back together the shards of a Self you’ve perhaps lost along the way.

Read on for the SkyCodes for your particular moon, ascendant, Sun or key planet of your chart.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You might not have even realized that you were somehow in a rut about work or your career. That’s okay. It’s not completely obvious. It’s more in your mindset than something that you can pin down by your actions, at first. For example, if everyone is competition at work, then what allies do you have? Or if you feel the only way to get anything done is to do it yourself, then are you doing what’s most important for your job? Think more about how you feel about your work and the people there. Then think whether these feelings reflect your true desires.

Affirmation:
I am more attuned to what I truly want in my career and can better draw what I desire.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Perhaps you don’t feel ready for your birthday season close-up, whether your birthday is this week or not. Your mind likely feels preoccupied with getting every other thing done but anything for yourself. It’s natural to think you need more self-care, and that’s true. But there’s something else too. You’re likely quietly struggling with holding a lot together. It’s probably not true that everything is about to fall apart. But you might fear that if you pull away that a lot will crash. Fair enough. Then take some action that ensures that doesn’t happen. And then celebrate the start of your birthday season on Wednesday.

Affirmation:
I create supports & empowerment that allow others to take care of business and for me to take better care of myself.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Stay low. Yet, that doesn’t mean you have to embrace feeling low. You might feel alternately overwhelmed and underwhelmed, not knowing what to do with yourself in between. The underwhelming moments might spill out as you coming off cool and distant to loved ones. That’s probably a clear indication that you need to open your mouth instead. Of course, you can’t talk to anyone about your fears or problems. But it’s important not to shut off the people who matter most to you. That will help you navigate through the times when you feel overwhelmed.

Affirmation:
I open up to people important to me when I’m overwhelmed and need support.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

Be sure to think seriously about a long-range goal or plan each day. It really doesn’t matter how you think about it, whether you draw, write, or visualize it in your mind only. Focus on the emotions you’d like to experience as you meet this goal or items in your plan. Really allow yourself to feel them. You’ll probably find it easier to endure what might feel like the soul-sucking dullness of work now. Nothing has to be wrong with work, per se. But your heart yearns for more and you’ll have to be proactive about creating it. It’s not “out there” yet. That’s why you have to start within.

Affirmation:
From within, I create more of what I enjoy in the world without.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

It might not feel like it at the top of the week, but you’re beginning to feel your confidence and clarity return. You’re likely realizing that there are things about your work or life routines that you have to do more than tweak. You’ll have to make sacrifices. But that can be exciting, too. These changes, whether big or small, will likely increase your overall wellbeing and productivity. But focus more on improving your quality of life. For instance, occasionally take a less crowded train in the morning though it might lengthen your commute. You’ll likely have more room to read, think and relax before you go in. And you don’t have to commit to taking that route every day. Perhaps only a few times a week.

Affirmation:
I willingly make big or small sacrifices in my daily schedule to improve the quality of my life.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Since you’re the sign that trails “fairy tale” of Leo, you probably feel like you always have to be the grown-up in the room. There’s being responsible. And then there’s being unnecessarily tight with yourself and others. Don’t become the tightwad. Use “responsibility” to keep you and others accountable to commitments that been made. That’s true freedom. You can go beyond what the ego deems worthwhile in the moment. Yet, that doesn’t mean commitments and the moment never change. That’s when you’ve become tight. Being the grown up ain’t always about saying, “I’m grown.” But saying, “I’m growing.”

Affirmation:
I can be flexible and responsible while holding others and myself accountable.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Who and what keeps you rooted will be important this week. Perhaps that’s family and your home. Or perhaps those are your friends or favorite hangouts. But it’s important to know (and be) where you’re unconditionally loved and supported. If you don’t have such people or places, don’t despair. And don’t cynically lie to yourself that you don’t need them. Everyone does. You can also create such safe spaces. Of course, you can’t create such depth and intimacy with everyone or anything. But with a little trust and discernment, you can. Sometimes these feelings of home and connection can erupt fast. Yet, you can better trust what holds fast over time.

Affirmation:
I can better cultivate the depth and intimacy in my life that inspires me to feel unconditionally loved and accepted.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

“Thoughts are things.” That seems mostly true since many of our thoughts do become things. (But thank the heavens not all of our thoughts become things cuz…you know.) Carefully watching what you say starts also with what you think. You might not be able to control all that streams through your head. But you can decide where you stop the channel-flipping to focus. The “clap back,” for example, can give great satisfaction in the moment. But do you find yourself scheming on clap-backs you should’ve given someone? Or that you will give someone? If you’re doing that, are you truly in the moment? Why is a response to someone else consuming your mind? Come back to center rather than who or what has thrown you off your square.

Affirmation:
I hone my thoughts to better shape the words and worlds I want to create for my wellbeing.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

You’re probably feeling the first stirrings of a profound restlessness. Perhaps it comes annually. That doesn’t mean that you must book the first redeye to Tahiti. But you might not feel as chill or relaxed at home or even in the office as you have for the last few months. Get out more. You don’t have to take long jaunts. As long as the weather holds up, you’ll probably feel better outdoors or in transit to someplace interesting. Planning for longer trips will help you also feel better.

Affirmation:
I roam with my restlessness without running from home.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Others might be drawn to you like a moon to a planet. You do have a certain gravitational pull that’s stronger than usual. That probably feels great if you want more people listening to you or buzzing around you. But that could get old and annoying fast if you don’t. Don’t stress about it. Ducking away to work on your own projects (or to rest) is also vital. The charm and pull will be there when you want to do something interesting with it. Fear losing your own reserves of energy if you have to fear anything. That way you’ll be careful with your most precious resources—time and energy.

Affirmation:
I can embrace the draw of the crowd and swarm of my own thoughts alternately.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Cooling your heels from the rush of groups and friends, even if it’s just one, might be the order of the week. You’re likely not doing that because something’s wrong with any particular group or friend. But it’s always good for you to be sure you’re connecting with others because that’s what you want to do, not what you feel obligated to do. It’s not a “happy hour” if heading to the bar regularly with friends makes you feel tired. Use the powers of spring to revive and re-group. You’ll have more to give others another time soon.

Affirmation:
I use the powers of spring to revive and re-group my own energy before sharing it with others by obligation.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

Be sure not to confuse a dear one’s off-putting coolness as something that’s about you. It might not be. BUT you’re right to sense something is off and discuss it. It’s all in how you approach it. First, if possible, observe the person. See if there’s something practical that you can address first. Maybe the person balked about going out to lunch with you because he’s on a tight budget right now. Perhaps you can offer to treat or cook together. If you can’t spot any reason for a person’s distance, then ask. Lead with how you felt when you perceived something with the person, not that he or she did something.

Affirmation:
I can prompt loved ones to open up about practical or emotional needs with subtlety and respect for any boundaries he or she has.
