Mars is most definitely the MVP this week. I guess it also helps that March is named after him too. He doesn’t do much to earn this honor. He doesn’t tangle deeply with any other planets or shift into a new sign. He’s still plodding along in opinionated Sagittarius. (In case you’ve also noticed people are more expressive of their opinions than usual.)
No, Mars is the MVP because five out of ten planets will be in one of his two signs, Aries or Scorpio, including the moon at the top of the week. Mercury lands in Aries early Tuesday morning and Venus comes out of her exaltation in Pisces into her detriment in Aries that evening. Jupiter has been in Scorpio since October. But, he begins his retrograde on Thursday night. Uranus keeps on truckin’ through Aries.
The best way to manage this Mars moment is to “get physical,” as Olivia Newton-John once sang. This doesn’t mean that you must only exercise. Yet, like the name of the month suggests, you should get to marching…with something. Spring’s not too far away, but you don’t have to wait to begin your spring training or cleaning. Perhaps more than other planet, Mars requires us to get into our bodies and the grit of our lives.
Mercury in Mars’ Aries wants to speak out and have ideas heard. There’s a strong need to make breakthroughs or be first in some way. Venus in Aries might have love and pleasure appear like a competition or a junior and lighter version of the boob tube’s “Survivor.” Venus doesn’t trust that she is the prize anymore when she’s in Aries. Instead, she creates drama that makes her feel special. You don’t have to mimic her.
Jupiter’s retrograde, of course, touches on some of the themes I mentioned when he first landed in Scorpio in October. Now we might focus more on ominous dark turns rather than the optimism for which Jupiter’s best known. That’s when you must tap your funny bone to find your best jokes, your best sense of irony. The Cosmos indeed does have jokes. You can’t forget to laugh. Laughing and lightening up are keys to your survival.
So, be serious enough to be in your body and the fullness of your life with all this active Mars “energy.” But don’t take yourself so seriously that you sink too much into only what you see. The eagle eyes of Jupiter in Scorpio always prompt you to look deeper and sharper.
You could choose to read these only for “your sign.” Perhaps that might be your Sun, Moon, or ascendant sign, if you’re familiar with those terms and your chart. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that, though.
I would skim through them all and see which affirmation affirms your life this week:
You might not know at the top of the week what you need to affirm. But you might have a sense from the previous week, from a dream or something that happens right on Monday morning. You can also visit this page later in the week to see what resonates. You might also discover I write more for another planet or sign in your chart. I talk more about this here.
My desire is to prompt you to read more for your whole chart, not just what you know or understand your birth chart to be. It’s also possible that none of what I write here speaks to you, and that’s okay. The goal is to open and to explore. That’s the only way we ever truly know anything.
