Digging In the Dirt

Ah, the early 90s!

Peter Gabriel’s “Digging In The Dirt” song and video were once one of my favorites. I haven’t seen the video in decades, though. My now 21st century eyes can see it as very dated with its over the top claymation and jarring edits. Yet, the lyrics of the song are still compelling.

The tune’s especially potent this week when bonding Venus nuzzles into the bosom of the revelatory Sun by conjunction with deep Pluto on Tuesday. We’re bound to surface connections that we thought lost, in disrepair or we didn’t even know were there.

These connections are only one half of what’s happening now, though. You could bump into one of the brightest ex-flames of your life and see sparks fly anew. The pathway to love, in almost all forms, particularly “falling in love” is always multi-directional. One way we forget to look is within. That’s why I find this Rumi saying apt for this Venus-Sun-Pluto mash-up: “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

People often consult with me about finding love. It’s rare when I can give an unqualified answer…and I know no one likes to hear that. But the qualified answer is always the truth. The stars always just trace the outline of any love story. They might show when there’s increased opportunity. Or who’s a reasonably good fit. Yet, love can only color in the traces when we’ve cleared away what’s blocking its flow.

You have to roll up your cuffs to pull out stubborn heart stubble like unforgiveness. Shame. Hate. Fear. Faithlessness. Confusion about what you want. Ingratitude. Not knowing your worth, either from valuing yourself too much or too little. Refusing to release what you never had, and rejecting what’s yours to have, if you choose to want it.

These obstacles have their origins at various points in our lives. Many began, indeed, during our childhood, with our parents as key planters. But others could’ve been sown last week. Yet, we can uproot these weeds overrunning our path to love. Times like this planetary ménage-a-trois signal what’s possible now. Yet, no planets can yield a harvest of love in a hard heart that resists its own depth and growth.

Love is not just out there. It must be found within, too, like well water.

So, dig and passionately remove as many heart hurdles as you can.

Read on for the SkyCodes for your particular moon, ascendant, Sun or key planet of your chart.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

All of the world’s well-known religions teach love. But no religion teaches to love foolishly or without discretion. You, of course, prize selectivity. Yet, perhaps you’ve been selective in a way that’s not working for you during the last year or so. Look closer at who you consider your “brother” or “sister,” at who you can consider a partner or friend. There might be some people you’re trying to include who just don’t fit. You’re not a bad person for not making the fit work. It’s likely not even your fault. Some fits aren’t just meant to be.

Affirmation:

I wisely love whom I can love and who inspires me to mirror Divine love.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

When I get a cold, I usually trust I’m on the road to recovery when my sense of smell and taste return. This might be the sense of you have about life now, whether you’ve been sick or not. You might not have known that you had lost so much flavor in your life. But suddenly you feel the rush and now you want more spice in your life. Trust that. It’s real. But don’t make too much of it. You don’t have to overcompensate for any perceived deprivation in the past. Believe now you can and will have your due.

Affirmation:
I patiently and wisely relish my love for life’s many flavors.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

This week you might feel like the Cosmos has slipped you celestial Ecstasy, endowing you with the ability to love everybody and anything. Or that you’ve taken a toke of some strong stuff that puts you at a paranoid edge about everything or anyone. The comfort is that neither feeling is absolutely true. You’ll do better to inch yourself toward the middle where you’re open to loving well those who are familiar and keeping a watchful eye on those you don’t know well.

Affirmation:
I love well whom I know well and trust well whom I have no reason to distrust.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

You don’t have to be a “very stable genius” to know that winning friends and influencing (the right) people are keys to success. Yet, you might often feel that you’re only obligation is to be true to thine own self and not kiss anyone’s behind. But you can be authentic without kissing butts. Create a plan for how you’ll build up more people on your team for support. Focus more on the team than the goal, though. You’ll find that ideas from others will help fill in blanks with problems you’ve spotted recently.

Affirmation:
I can be authentic and win over the right people and friends.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Did you know that many of the Western world’s most notable philosophers are Taureans? A simple enough reason is that the Earth element for your sign really struggles to make sense of abstract notions and to find practical ways to make them work. That’s you this week. It doesn’t matter if you would rather camp out in a resort somewhere and down mimosas. Even there, you might bubble up with ideas for problems you didn’t even knew you cared about. Or others might approach you to straighten out their tangled thoughts.

Affirmation:
I am a source for practical , simple guidance and knowledge, even when I’m relaxing.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Nothing will spotlight who you really are like when someone wrongs you. That’s mostly true because one wrong can remind us of all other previous wrongs, even ones that are completely different in nature. These ghost wrongs lay buried deep within us. Most often you prefer to side-step slights and keep it moving. But you’re likely to get stuck this week. And that’s not a bad thing. It all depends on how you get stuck. The “wrong” way to address a wrong is to commit another yourself without first seeking justice or recompense. (Revenge ≠ Justice) Stay calm and focused. This might incline a person to see things your way than if you “go off” first.

Affirmation:
I “right” a wrong done to me by staying focused on the just and right solution to the problem.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

The Rumi quote in my intro is doubly fitting for you now. Renewal and love are yours to feel, if only you clear what’s blocking you from experiencing them in the first place. And you’re likely to clear a major stumbling block this week. You might want more removed. But, again, be grateful for what you feel now, for what’s better now. Your given circumstances, whether those are challenging now or not, are not necessarily the problem. For example, you could have the best of lovers, but it wouldn’t matter if you didn’t feel love from the inside out.

Affirmation:
I remove the blocks to my blessings from the inside out rather than focusing on what’s outside.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

Love takes work and time. And I don’t only mean romantic love. This is mostly true for anything you love or want to love. You don’t love going to the gym to fulfill your New Year resolution? You don’t love your job? Well, do you want to love those things? And it’s important to know the answer to that question before you decide anything else. No amount of work or time can make you love something that you don’t want to love or that you can’t love. So, start with what you can and want to love. Then be willing to experiment with how you will do it. (For example, you don’t have to go to a gym if you want to love a slimmer you. You can find other ways.)

Affirmation:
I choose to love more and to choose intelligently how I will it, her or him.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Do you hate some of the descriptions for your sign as much as I do? I’m sure some of them fit you, like your need to be prepared or even your occasional perfectionism. But one word that I don’t hear associated with your sign enough is passion. Perhaps your passion is not as “torch the whole damn house!” emotional as Scorpio, for example. But where do people think your workaholic tendencies come from? Your insatiable curiosity to look up details? Many astro-writers make it sound so mechanical. You know it’s not. Give yourself permission to enjoy that passion. Risk even losing focus a little. You’ll find an equilibrium soon enough.

Affirmation:
I yield more to my pleasurable passions.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

It’s snowy season here in the US northeast where I’ve been all my life, starting in my native blizzard-prone Buffalo, NY. I know a bit about snow. I tweeted a thread about trudging through the fluffy stuff recently. Key to the success for snow-walking is to plant your heel firmly in the snow as you then step forward with your whole foot and self. Don’t step into the snow and ice like you’re scared of it. Respect it, but don’t fear it. Otherwise, you’ll likely end up on your butt. Value being warm and safe in the snow over looking cute. But you can be toasty, safe, and fashionable with a little effort. Now, substitute “the snow” in this paragraph for “life” and you’ll be working your stars correctly now.

Affirmation:
I can be toasty, safe, and fashionable in “life” with smart effort.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

Reach out to others more. This might seem counterintuitive to your impulse to be incommunicado to get more work done. Or just to be in your own broody cocoon. But some measure of reaching out might not even be for your benefit. Most of it might not be. An extra and good word from you might help someone feel another day isn’t a practice run through hell. You often speak with conviction, because you like to mean what you say and say what you mean. (Even if all that changes later.) That conviction is what will be so powerful and resonant to someone else. Speak up.

Affirmation:
My conviction can brighten someone’s day and my own.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

Take the time to appreciate ANY results or gains you’ve made in the last month since Saturn left your sign. This is important, because the first step to attracting more goodness in your life is to express gratitude. Gratitude also helps you assess what you truly have rather than what you think you have or wish you had. Once you’ve tapped into gratitude, your appreciation can convert into excitement. And you know what happens when you get excited, right?! That’s when you really begin creating magic! One of your greatest gifts is enthusiasm. Start fanning that fire, because this winter could use your heat!

Affirmation:
I fan sparks of gratitude to ignite a raging fire of excitement for changing the world.
