Quicksilver Mercury and jam-packed Jupiter are the planets to watch this week. Lover-girl Venus deserves special mention since she changes signs this week too.

But Mercury stands out more because of who he associates with this week. He spars by square with ideas-rich Uranus on Tuesday night. These sparks will naturally waft into Wednesday. This makes a hump day good for getting over bumps and humps that have been holding us back. Pull out white boards and clean sheets of paper to brainstorm or mindmap plans to implement. After all, this is a first quarter moon week. First quarter moons demand putting some ideas and thoughts into action.

Mercury also scraps with sprawling Jupiter by a square on Thursday. The tension of this square possibly leads to a lot of back-and-forth talking, speculating, and making big promises. Watch out for when you or others are putting the proverbial cart before the horse. Don’t assume current realities will stay as they are.

That’s especially true since Jupiter goes retrograde on Sunday. A retrograde planet means a disruption to that planet’s normal motion. It’s a chance for us to re-think and look inward at things associated with that planet. In Jupiter’s case, that can be all activities that broaden and improve our body, mind, and soul. You can count long-distance travel, scholarship, religious, spiritual and philosophical pursuits, and intercultural exchanges as those kinds of actions.

Retrogrades are usually hardest on the stubborn and inattentive. Jupiter’s retrograde for the next five months will be hard if you’re not willing to adapt and “re-” do or visit anything that makes you grow. The impulse is to crawl back into what’s familiar. But you must to resist this.

Venus moves into self-aware Aries on Friday, a day named for her. We might find it hard to be as open and charitable as we’d like. Again, it’s okay to challenge yourself. But you can also use Venus’ self-awareness here to ensure charity starts at home. Lavish some attention on yourself before you stretch out more to others. This might help you not overreach by feeling grounded and solid yourself.

Read on for the SkyCodes for your particular moon, ascendant, Sun or key planet of your chart.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

You’ll have ample opportunity to test whether the 90s soul group En Vogue were right when they said, “Free your mind and the rest will follow.” You probably won’t have any trouble creating fresh ideas and exciting others with them. The problem is whether you can follow up with your keen words. The solution might be easier than you think. Start somewhere. Make a decision and don’t try to figure out TOO much in advance. That mostly will lead to worry. A method will help you get started and keep going. Even if it’s process that you’ll have to change.

Affirmation:
I follow up my sharp ideas with methods that will sharpen them more.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

So many surprising ideas and notions might pour out of you. Monitor your breathing. It will help slow down your mind and your mouth. Both perhaps feel the need to speed up and get everything out. But everything’s not meant to come out all at once or clearly. Take your dreams and flashes of insight seriously. Write them down. Or if there’s time and an open ear, talk them through. But be careful about talking too much. Sometimes we can talk our best ideas away from us. You could also let someone talk you out of something prematurely. When you begin to feel more uncertain about what you’re saying, then that might be a good time to stop. You can meditate on those thoughts privately.

Affirmation:
I wisely hold space for the volume of energy coming through my mind.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

Action is a bit overrated. Of course, this sounds like heresy to you. It’s always great to be a person of action than mere talk. But sometimes you must talk to discern what’s the right thing to do. You can also talk yourself out of doing something. That usually happens when we talk about the big things before doing the smaller, important things. Like campaigning to be mayor before you even get enough signatures for the board of elections to appear on the ballot. Attend to the details that might prevent you from acting on your big plans.

Affirmation:
I attend to the details before I blab about bigger things.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Taking time to help someone down on his or her fortune or health will likely lift your own spirits. You might even necessarily feel bad. But more inspiration always helps. Your care for another will also give you a break from dwelling on your own strains. And that might be all you need for flashes of insight to light up a troublesome issue. You’ll feel more confident to tackle others and build momentum once you make more traction with one mess.

Affirmation:
I give uplift and receive in kind.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

A chance encounter with a stranger or an unusual friend might help answer a troubling problem. You probably have many unusual friends. But don’t be surprised if it’s someone who’d be least likely to help. There’s also a bigger lesson here. Don’t try to outthink everything too often. Leave room for life to surprise you in the good ways it can. Expectations are only placeholders for what will actually come, like “Reserved” markers in chairs. Fortunately, most times, folks are far better than the seats.

Affirmation:
I trust life to figure out some things better than I can.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

Sprucing up your professional wardrobe is a visible way of showing loving attention to your career goals and aims. It’s great to show the world that you’re proud of who you are and what you do. But don’t become too much of a people pleaser, though. Sometimes the more you put your best face forward, the more people want that face to shine on them like the Sun. You can’t be all things to all people at all times. Prioritize. Make a schedule. But keep it flexible enough to make sudden changes yet rigid enough not to do that too often.

Affirmation:
I am more pleased by how I aim rather than my aim to please.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

Reserve more time to listen to your own thoughts. It’s easy to be lulled into trying attempting to heed too many voices. Your heart pumps the courage to grow and be better at whatever you do. But never forget that you have to find your own way to make it happen. You have to own the shifts in routine and habit that you make now. Claiming time to listen to your intuition will help you to hear the right calls for change. That way you’ll keep up with those changes when the cheers or even jeers from others quiet down.

Affirmation:
I wisely heed the calls for change that best suit my growth.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Multi-tasking might be overrated according to many productivity experts. We don’t usually do many things at once well. But that’s no excuse not to do many things. The most important thing, though, is to know which things to do and how to do them better. One clear key to success with that is a schedule. Then we only need the discipline to keep that schedule. To do anything else would be like taking a whole bunch of college credits outside of your major. That’s why we consolidate and focus. It’s time for you to do the same. But that doesn’t mean you have to become locked into only one thing. Just one thing at a time.

Affirmation:
I concentrate very well on one thing at a time, and do this with many things at different times.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

You probably find it hard to decide whether you’re in or out with particular commitments. This isn’t a simple matter of being indecisive. So there’s no use trying to shame yourself into a decision. Or allowing another to shame you into committing. That will most certainly force you to make the wrong decision. You’re likely making a correction to some kind of excess. Perhaps you’ve stretched yourself thin and you just need some space. Or you’ve gotten bored with a routine. Focus on where you can make those changes. Then see if you can keep your obligations rather than rush into or even away from them.

Affirmation:
I correct excesses to keep vital commitments.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

“Maintaining” is a favorite old skool response to a question about how you’re doing. Holding steady is one way to read what’s happening. But it’s just as possible to see that as barely getting along. Surviving isn’t thriving, though. As you rally toward a revival period, add more touches of grace, beauty, and zest to what you maintain. Spruce up your gym wardrobe as you work out. Add some small flourish to your business attire. Change your computer’s wallpaper. In other words, let your maintaining be only a temporary. Add some fanfare to remind you to keep stepping it up.

Affirmation:
I add flourish in my life for inspiration for new heights.

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

You might fast feel overwhelmed by needs to have or get more money. Fast money can usually come easy, but hard to keep around. Think more about what you can do and build that’s sustainable. A good “locker room” speech can get you motivated to win a game when you’re down. But it’s only consistent effort and plans that help you keep it up for a championship season. Work on the plans. It’s okay if you come up with even several plans. You can winnow down what’s most practical in due time.

Affirmation:
I prepare for the ruggedness of the gold medal than the ease of the bronze.

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Permit yourself to feel a rising tide of enthusiasm and energy. It doesn’t matter if any groundhogs see their shadows or not. You know spring and better times are on their way. You can feel the light in your bones. You’ll have to respect those feelings and not interrogate them like you’re on border patrol. These refugee upstarts don’t have all the answers to your gnawing questions. They don’t have to. They only have to bear the good they have. You don’t have to fear that they’re harboring false senses of comfort that will explode soon. It’s doubt that’s the saboteur. It testifies to nothing good in the present, and won’t do anything to help your immediate future. So, let the light in and feel good. For its own sake.

Affirmation:
I trust the good I feel now and can let that be enough.
