SkyCode Horoscopes for Jan 1-7, 2018

Horoscopes to unlock the stars, not to be locked down by them.

Connecting the Dots

2018 horoscopes, weekly horoscopes, horoscopes, Uranus, Uranus direct, full moon, blue moon, Super moon, Cancer moon, Prometheus, Richard Nolle, New Year, connect the dots, baby new year

There are cool, admittedly astro-geeky things, I love about this first week of the 2018. First, we start the first day of the year with on a Monday. It’s silly, really. But considering I start the week on Monday with horoscopes, it feels fitting and neat.

The second lovely astro-geeky thing is that we start the year with a Super full moon on Monday night. This is the first of two Super blue moons for the month, and that’s rare itself. The second full moon on Jan. 31 is also the first lunar eclipse of the year. (Reminder: Blue moons are called such because it’s not every month that you see two full moons in one month. Not because they appear blue.) Super moons are astrological phenomena based on ideas by Richard Nolle. We might debate whether super moons have global meaning. But there’s no doubting how gorgeous they are to see.

Early Tuesday morning, unpredictable Uranus, the last retrograding planet from 2017, moves direct. That means for the first time in a long time all 10 commonly used astrological planets will be moving forward in the sky. For nearly the next TWO months. That’s also awesome! As I generally say, when a planet stations direct, it signifies a shift in the affairs of that planet.

Uranus crackles with novelty. This freshness doesn’t completely come from nowhere, though. We have a sketchy outline of ourselves to re-trace. During the last year, we likely erased some of the best parts of ourselves with neglect, heedless busyness, and plain old fear.

Yet, this super full moon, working with Uranus, appears to lend us lines of light and possibility to re-connect the dots for a new framework and a new sense of self. So, take your time as you move forward. It is a new year, after all.

Happy New Year!

CAPRICORN
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

It’s likely something that’s been festering or fertilizing comes to a head. Of course, this all depends on your perspective. Evaluating whether something is good or bad obsesses most of us. But perhaps a better position to have with what’s recently revealed is to let it be as it is now. Reserve judgment about its possible help or harm until you can see it clearer. Until you’ve had more time with it. Rushing to judgment can lead to rash, regrettable actions. I know it can be uncomfortable for you not to know something for certain. But time hasn’t failed you yet. Trust it a little longer.

Affirmation:
I reserve judgment on a recent revelation until I can see it more as it is, not as I fear or hope.

AQUARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Saturn in birth chart

Life might feel like a cliffhanger now. Not necessarily in some melodramatic way. But you might sense you’re on the brink of some significant changes. It might bother you that you can’t put your finger on the exact shape of any of it. Let that go. It will only irritate and frustrate you. You might also feel like you’re between feeling pretty good and only okay, like you’re on brink of getting well and sick. Like your own body has trouble making up its damn mind. Don’t push that either. Your mind must be calm to keep your wits sharp and your tongue at an even keel. Or you might say something you’ll regret. Accept this exciting twilight moment as is without needing it to be more.

Affirmation:
I accept this awkward moment of transition as it is.

PISCES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

Perhaps you’re chomping at the bit to show you’re more ready and handier than you’ve ever been. And you are, as long you keep your focus on your talents & gifts—not what others do or don’t. Your chief competitor is only yourself. Like Delilah and Samson’s locs, you’ll shear yourself of your power as soon as you attempt to match someone else. As soon as your eyes flash green with envy about someone else’s whateva. (No, it really doesn’t matter what.) Be mindful of your gifts and your excitement about them, and victory lies ahead.

Affirmation:
A victory lies ahead for me because I compete for myself against myself alone to be the prize.

ARIES
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

Aries diva Diana Ross’ smash hit “Upside Down” strikes me as good inspiration for your week. But you’re just as inclined to turn someone’s life upside down as be turned up yourself. You might not even know what to do with yourself! Of course, this has romantic undertones. Yet, there are other potential outcomes, too. For instance, you see an excellent opportunity to set the foundation for your next big project or thing. But don’t believe you will build it all quickly. You won’t. That’s not a diss or defeat, though. It can be a relief, actually. Perhaps your previous efforts and approach was unwittingly off-kilter in some way.

Affirmation:
I roll with the topsy-turvy parts of life for love and living life at the fullest.

TAURUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Start speaking your wisdom, if you haven’t. Keep talking the talk, if you have. You don’t have to add many caveats to what you’re about to say, like “I’m not a…” Just share your truth. You absorb a lot more than you likely give yourself credit for. You’ve done a lot more thinking and studying than you realize. There’s always more to learn and know. Yet, sometimes you must release some of what you know to others to receive more. Resist the impulse to clam up.

Affirmation:
I share my wisdom and insight to be open to more.

GEMINI
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

Your thoughts might center on your worldly position and possessions. But your first checkpoint isn’t to calculate your net worth again. Check out your network. Lots of stats suggest that the people around you and with whom you regularly connect have more influence on how you advance in life than your education, natural talents, and abilities, etc. Pay careful attention to people who spout more harm than help. Connect more with those who are positive and forward moving.

Affirmation:
I build up my net worth by keeping my network positive and forward moving.

CANCER
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Moon in birth chart

Feel free to smile smugly as God reportedly did when she made the world. “And it was good.” I’m sure our holy book editors left out “damn good!” It’s okay to be satisfied with your accomplishments. That satisfaction is good fodder for rolling up your sleeves and swaggering into improving and tweaking your already good work. You might find that a better strategy than to rush into a whirlwind of changing things up and feeling a need to top a personal best. Or worse, to top someone else’s best. You’re already at damn good. It won’t be too long until you’re at your best, too. Take your time.

Affirmation:
I relish my good work as stepping stones for even doing better.

LEO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Sun in birth chart

You might have a “on the road to Damascus” moment. A moment when not only a light bulb goes off, but you’re already running along a new path. You likely had many trials of faith in 2017. It’s easy to focus more on the downs than the ups. But now you might grasp how those down moments have upsides. You perhaps perceive the concrete steps you can take daily to stay up…and even go higher. You’re excited and more of your faith in life is restored. But don’t be too carried away with it. You know, like you have a successful day of dieting with Jenny Craig and decide you want to fat-shame any and everyone as a JC zealot.

Affirmation:
I use my increasing faith, wisdom, and zeal to choose what’s best for me, not others.

VIRGO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mercury in birth chart

You might have to help a friend or group. Or likely make a sacrifice for your creative pleasure. And I don’t mean something gruesome like a dove or goat on an altar. Your sacrifice might be money or time. Yet, you’re also giving something deeper. There’s no getting around the etymology of sacrifice here—you must make something holy. And that thing is your own heart. Expect nothing for what you give, even if it’s a loan. Give with that awareness and in the best spirit possible. Face reward and punishment as wearing the same mask. What you do and give now is to feel better the love wearing that mask.

Affirmation:
I sacrifice in the best spirit possible to be a better vessel for the love pumping in my heart.

LIBRA
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Venus in birth chart

Astro-lovers and the astro-curious are always surprised to hear that reportedly there are more generals & military leaders born under the “influence” of your sign than any other. But the unconfirmed reports make sense. As the only cardinal air sign of the Zodiac, you’re, of course, brainy, as air signs usually are. You’re made for strategy! But you’re also primed for action, especially after you’ve weighed out best possible outcomes. (Often the “weighing out” part’s given you the reputation as indecisive.) Well, your scales are definitely tipped for action now. Charge! (You already know where since that’s probably been what you’ve been waffling about for, at least, a month now.)

Affirmation:
I am primed for the action I’ve already weighed out…enough.

SCORPIO
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Mars in birth chart

Sir Francis Bacon might have said, “Knowledge is power,” but that doesn’t mean it’s wholly true. For instance, you might know something can kill you, like smoking, but it’s a very different thing for a smoker to kick the habit before it kicks her off the planet. To have the ability to act is power. Period. Rely less on what you know or think you know now. Do more, even if it’s imperfect at first. Be able to say, “I went to the gym today” rather than “I know I should have gone to the gym.” You get there not by making empty promises. But doing whatever it takes to ensure your success, like going to gym directly before or after work. You know, rather than when you come home first, then sit on the couch, look at your fave show for a lil bit and wake up hours later to say, “I know I should have gone…”

Affirmation:
I rely less on what I know or think I know and more on what I can do right now!

SAGITTARIUS
Moon, ascendant, Sun or strong Jupiter in birth chart

“Real magic can never be made by offering someone else’s liver. You must tear out your own, and not expect to get it back,” according to author Peter S. Beagle. Don’t worry: I don’t think the Cosmos is asking for your liver to make much needed magic in your life now. Yet, fitting that Jupiter, the planet most at home in your sign, rules the liver. And Prometheus, as my wife points out here in talking about your sign, had to surrender his liver daily. In classic thought, the liver was all about the will. It seems this is a good moment for you to say to Life, “Let my will be thy will.” But not as a statement of control or surrender in defeat. More as a testament that you’re sharing yourself with a larger purpose and mission. Once you have real skin in the game, you’ll be surprised by how much you gain.

Affirmation:
I can make the tough choice to align my will with the will of a larger purpose and goal.
